Instructions for Presenters

The OCEANS '10 IEEE Sydney Technical Program is available.

Please use the following guidelines in preparing your presentation for the conference:

Presentations
Presentations must be developed in Microsoft Windows PowerPoint, or in a format that is viewable using PowerPoint 2007. PDF formats readable by Adobe Reader are also acceptable.

Windows Media Player 11 (with avi codec installed), Adobe Flash Player 10 are available for playing movies.

Presentations are limited to 15 minutes, at which time the conclusion slide will be presented (on prompting by the Session Chair). At the 17 minute mark, the Session Chair will invite questions for 2 to 3 minutes.

Student Poster Competition oral presentations are limited to 10 minutes. The oral presentation should be a PowerPoint presentation of the resource material on the poster.

TIP FOR PRESENTERS WITH MOVIE FILES:  Please check that your movies run correctly under PowerPoint 2007. Our experience is that AVI files may not play correctly. This situation can often be resolved by changing the movie filename extension from .avi to .mpg before the movie is loaded into PowerPoint (see link for further information). Please check again at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, when you upload your presentation.

Session Room Facilities
All session rooms will be equipped with a conference laptop PC and audiovisual equipment for presentations.

All conference PCs will be configured with Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2007, Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.1 and Adobe Flash Player 10. No Macintosh operating system PCs will be available for use.

Personal laptops cannot be used in session rooms to give your oral presentation. You must load your presentation from the Speaker Preparation Room located in Bayside 108, Level 1, Sydney Convention Centre.

Speakers should report to their Session Chair at least 15 minutes prior to start of the session.

Presentation Upload
A Speaker Preparation Room, Bayside Room 108, will be used for presentation upload by the AV technicians and will be networked to appear in the Session Room at the correct time.

You MUST check in at least 4 hours before your scheduled session and uploads are only permitted in the Speaker Preparation Room. We recommend checking in 24 hours prior to your session if possible. Please refer to the Technical Program and see when your presentation is scheduled.

The hours of operation of the Speaker Preparation Room are:

Monday, 24 May 0730h-1700h

Tuesday, 25 May 0730h-1700h

Wednesday, 26 May 0730h-1700h

Thursday, 27 May 0730h-1400h

Conference PCs will read presentations stored on CD, DVD, or USB storage device/thumb drive.

We recommend that presentations be reviewed ahead of time to ensure that the fonts are displayed correctly.
